Why the hell aren’t I informed of these things? I spaced and forgot that I had the Onion puzzle this week. So, better late than never, right? Let’s get down to it, boppers: [Across Lite] [PDF]
So yeah, we saw Mike Birbiglia last year. Good show. Made a note to myself to eventually find a gag of his that worked as a quote puzzle. Twas a lot harder than I’d hoped as there were many, many winners that were off by just a square here and a square there. Damn you, rules of crossword construction!
Lastly, I’m in the latest episode (19!) of the reality/web sitcom Quiet Desperation. I’ve made two appearances before, but seriously, if you have like an hour or so to kill, the whole series is inspired. Needless to say, it’s NSFW.
Share the puzzle. Themeless Monday on deck.
as a sox fan i must applaud the clue for AROD. and the IUD clue made me laugh as well. good work.
AROD, ha ha.
Held back by Handsome NED (?). Else, good.
I had Handsome DAN, crossing with IODIZE, THALIA and HONIED.
The latter two are as non-English to me as THELIA and HODIED would be (although maybe the “var” on the last one is that it should be HONEYED, which I’ve never seen as a verb).
At least IODIZE has something to do with salt, doesn’t it?
I wanted 4D to be Williams (College). Maybe next time.
JAX? Never seen it. Where’s it sold?
is it just you and gaffney or are the names of chess openings and defenses and so forth showing up more and more in puzzles?
Karen, did you go to Williams? My father used to teach over there. It’s one town over from where I live.
Also, Jax are available in most grocery stores. They’re like Cheetos. The brand has been around forever.
Yep, I was there late 80s, studying mostly math and science. It’s a lovely area of MA.
