Tip o’ the hat to Patrick Berry for this grid pattern. Saw it in a recent Times puzzle and thought I’d give it a shot. Let me tell you, it’s deceptively wide open. Don’t let that stairs step of fives in the middle fool you. Well, it fooled me. The NW and SE corners weren’t easy to work with. In case anyone cares, I started in the SE and then snaked my way up to the NE. So no, despite what you think, 20-Across wasn’t the seed entry.
