I forgot to mention on Monday that I had last Friday’s Wall Street Journal puzzle. So consider it mentioned now. Print that baby out here.
As for today’s puzzle, it has been brought to you by the seemingly never-ending winter of ’13. Spring can’t come soon enough.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Seriously sick of this weather down here in Virginia, up in Mass it must be 10x worse
Sun’s peeking through the clouds and 63 degrees in Austin at 10:10am. Don’t ask about weather in August.
This puzzle was medium? Was harder than your hard themelesses for me, even knowing some of the niche gimmes (ETSY, NES, NUKEM, MARINER). Some brutal crosses that seem like bad form to me: SNORRI/COOKE/ERLES, DOS/ONLAY/INTO/STER, AJFOYT/AFR/ACME/COST. KAYO/NUKEM/MARINER/LAZBOY/SBARRO was at least in my wheelhouse (other than KAYO – is that a phoneticization or does MMA actually write it that way?). Theme was not tough, but just a lot of messy/difficult/ykioyd sections in there.
Would have been nice if you’d at least had SPOILR at the front of your comment….
I don’t believe SNORRI Sturlusson was ever an author. Translator, yes. He did the Elder Eddas (our source for Norse Mythology) and some of the other Icelandic Sagas. I find his first name kind of interesting. Now that we have this “reality” tv show called Jersey Shore with all its madcap characters, I occasionally get this name mixed up with Snooki.
How about some technical puzzle themes? Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Architectual. ReVolting? Ohm my!
