THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

68 worder today. I emplyed the Shenk/Payne approach for themeless grids by starting with the entry one row down from the upper left (15-Across). Once I discovered the name at 1-Across fit just nicely, that corner just “filled itself in.” I love it when that happens. Onto the down side, I slapped the answer at 30-Down first. Why that one you ask? It was another seed entry I was planning on using, and I figured why not? Sort of an odd approach seeing as I had to do 2 11s underneath a 15, but no matter, I eventually got something and liked the corner. At that point, it was just the spanning central entry and then the last two corners. Threw in two boss pieces of trivia at 1-Across and 1-Down, and love the clue at 17-Across, and hopefully you do to. And scene.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Could someone explain 26A?
It’s a slang term for grandmother in England, and grandmothers tend to spoil.
I wish 27D wasn’t such a gimme.
Brendan, Brendan, you tricked me but good at 21A. Not to post a spoiler, but it sure wasn’t CHOW. Thank goodness I was certain about 2D.

I knew that Trip likes to seed the second row but didn’t know that Mike also used that strategy. Good puzzle, BEQ!
