G– D— IT!: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
From my lips to God’s ears a crossword grid, and just like that, another puzzle was born. Actually, that’s not quite true, as the theme answer at 60-Across was just too darned juicy not to do something with. And so from that, a puzzle was born. But, hey, you know I’ve got a sailor’s mouth and I’m not afraid to use it.
By the way, my latest AV puzzle came out yesterday. Subscribers already got it, but if you’re not one of those folks, get on it already, will ya?
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Is that Tabitha?
Good puzzle but, putting on my pseudo-editor’s hat:
Why is it OK to have the other G in 24 across? Shouldn’t the G in “Magic” also have been punned from the letter D?
Why is the D in “mugslide” (24A) allowed? I thought G’s get changed to D’s.
Seems like these muddle the theme a bit, or am I nitpicking?
Your second nit is legitimate, as Matt on Amy Reynaldo’s blog points out.
But I don’t agree with the first, since the G in magic is soft.
Gouglas has it backwards. The D’s get changed to G’s. To wit: the common phrase is “magic wand.” The puzzle’s answer is “magic wang,” as “wang” is a slang term for the “phallus” of the clue. Check the other long answers and this will be a consistency. “Mugslide” instead of the common “Mudslide,” “Moog music” instead of the common “Mood music,” etc. etc.
