THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Had a couple seed entries I wanted to use for this puzzle, and since they were pretty long, it became apparent that I had to cross them in order to make a more or less normal-looking grid. (The seeds are 15-Down and 26-Across.) I wanted to have a punchy answer at 42-Across as well, and well, there’s a letter in there that sort of forced a couple black squares. When the dust settled, we had surprisingly open NE and SW sections of the grid, loads of 6-, 7-, and 8-letter answers flanking the seeds. It was an interesting exercise and at times I felt like I was Harry Houdini trying to wiggle out of a hairy corner. Cluing was fun overall, with the ones at 15- and 42-Across being my favorites. Hope you enjoy it.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Not coming up for me.
I honestly thought that 26 across was something only my daughter and I did! (Long red light . . . 26 across) This is a prize winning puzzle with super clues and entries. How do you outdo you?
Fantastic puzzle…15D is my favorite answer in many moons.
Liked this one a lot.
Don’t the two seed answers have a connection to Archer? I can definitely remember them using 15 Down.
THERE we go!
(Also, dammit Facebook, I’m not “William,” we’ve been OVER this.)
Immediately tried TOO RAW, TOO REAL? for 15-Down. Kinda surprised to be wrong!
(I guess that’s more for after SPEAKING the unpopular opinion.)
Toughie but goodie. Said no one ever always makes me laugh…as does the Thanks Obama.
The decision to create the film was based solely on the success of E.T. (1982). The title Mac and Me comes from the working title for E.T. — E.T. and Me.[3] The film was both a box office bomb but a critical success and is now is considered as one of the greatest films ever made.
Said no one ever.
