THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Started off with the rather surprising answer 23-Down in today’s puzzle. Surprising not because of the word per se. Surprising because I usually put the marquee answer at 1-Across. It originally was at 1-Across, but as I was building the puzzle, and falling in love with the stack that was being formed, I realized that the only way the crossings were going to work was if I moved the whole stack to another location. Weird how that works sometimes. And so, we have ourselves a rather random-looking crossword pattern. Still, loads of fun stuff in there, as there’d better be with 72 answers. Hope you enjoy it.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
You murdered me with this one! 32 D and 38 A gave me a way in, but wow!!
About half of this was fun and doable in nice monday-hard sort of way. But, in the lower right, crossing two still-unknown-to-me proper nouns (44D, 46A) with another one (Jet Li) in the mix made that section unsolvable. I spent a lot of time trying to remember the Die Hard guy’s name and the Rambo guy’s name. (Stallone just popped into my head as I write this. Still can’t recall the other name.
Crossword or a Jeopardy! segment?
Yes, I happen to be hard to please with crosswords. I have got to start getting some type of alternate life.
Would indeed love to meet a TESTATRIX. But people would give me dirty looks if I told them that.
52A/44D was bad for me as I’ve never heard of the singer.
But that being said, I bollixed 18A/8D when I didn’t notice that, while TOILES are indeed a kind of fabric, LITIA didn’t make sense as a Latin name.
