Man alive, it’s August already? Go figure. That can only mean one thing: Lollapuzzoola is this Saturday. Those who know the drill already, know that this is a capital F-Fun crossword tournament that keep things light and entertaining without sacrificing top-flight puzzles for the Headz out there. What do you expect when it’s run by two theater turned puzzle turned back to theater people: Brian Cimmet and Patrick Blindauer. Of course, I posted a pic of Brian and Mike Nothnagel up above. But, hey, Mike’s like an honorary Lolla dude. I think he’s made a puzzle this year (again) for the tournament. Pretty sure Kevin Der, Tony Orbach, and Carly Fiorina made puzzles as well. But don’t quote me on those names. Anyway, it’s fun stuff. New York City, you’ve been warned. Prepare to have an infestation of puzzle people this weekend. Even if you can’t make it, throw Brian and Patrick a couple bucks and solve the puzzles at home will ya? Okay.
Will BEQ make it? Flip a coin and tell me what you get and I’ll let you know.
Anyway, Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Great puzzle — when I got to some answers, I said — “So obvious!” But getting there . . . all the fun. Thanks.
Qthulhu showed mercy today; a lot easier than Monday average for this solver.
Also, loved the symmetry of 17 & 58 across. Great stuff.
Good God! Don’t ever tell him a puzzle wasn’t hard enough! Never heard of the cartoon show, so the top of this one played very hard for me, but the crosses were fair, and it eventually fell. I like hard but fair (meaning not too much trivia I’ve never heard of) so this was a quality puzzle IMO.
