QUEUE AND CRY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

Random theme today, I guess. Sort of a proof of concept that if I’m given any sort of gimmick (not inspired by anything in the language to begin with) that is consistently and fairly applied throughout and given a reasonable title it becomes a theme. It’s almost but not quite like Trip Payne’s Something Different puzzles wherein any random phrase that can be reasonably clued (ASTUTE THERAPIST, RAMADA-ISH, etc.) is considered fair game as an answer. Now my puzzle’s not as wacky as Trip’s, but the gimmick is certainly random. One things for sure with this approach, you’re pretty much guaranteed that nobody’s made a puzzle like it. And who doesn’t like new stuff?

I would have guessed that 20A was the seed entry, given that it’s the only one where the base phrase contained a bare “H”, instead of words with “-SH” to start with.
