THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Today’s seed answer is well, a two-letter word for a change. One look of the grid will tell you that. And no, it’s not a Rudyard Kipling tribute puzzle. Anyway, I started with those black squares in place and then the rest of the pattern forced itself, more or less. As I was filling this thing in, I was intrigued at the idea of linking all these long flat stacks across each other. It was not an easy task, let me tell you, but I think we’ve got some fun stuff in there. Hope you enjoy it.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Wasn’t sure at first, not usually a fan of three-letter fill, but it delivered.
Outstanding, even with all the short fill. And even though it’s not really themeless. Slowed down by putting in the wrong venue for 13D.
Kipling wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. Rather, the 1968 film, which I should watch again to see if it’s dated.
Might have also been cool if you had put up still of Malcolm McDowell in the movie “IF…”. 2D Would have hoped that a certain Twilight Zone ep would have come to mind much sooner enough. i Do believe i got a valentine one day earlier with this nonsymmetric puzzle. Would care less for anything more.
Great puzzle once more. Thanks for the odd layout. Keep up the great work.
And thanks for the Fra’Mani shout out!
My favourite BEQ puzzle in the the last little while.
Thanks, Brendan–this was lots of fun!
“Loc primo ___ (in the first place cited)” breaches the rule against cluing a word with a variation of itself, doesn’t it? Perhaps something more general, like “(footnote abbreviation)” would serve better.
For me, it was all about the Swift.
