I’ve been told this one’s … out there. Hard and then some. You’ve been warned, so pour yourself another cuppa and get to it.

Some of this was Greek to me. I nearly freaked.
dropped in HAYWARD at 1A, which slowed me a bit–but it put me in the right frame of mind to nail 15D (and get the spelling right, too)
otherwise, was as advertised, but i enjoyed it. definitely one of my favorites, if only for being so out there
Could someone please explain 15D to me? It doesn’t look like any name, phrase, or abbreviation that I recognize.
Thanks,
15D was completely opaque to me too, but a great TOUGH puzzle otherwise. I filled in 15D from the crosses and then had to google it. Think of Wisconsin.
***SPOILER ALERT***
It’s the last name of a 6’11” basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA.
Sorry, can I have another clue? Wisconsin is associated with cheese. Cold winters. Whichever brewery isn’t in Colorado. Joe McCarthy, I think? They probably have deer as well, so that gives us “Buck”.
Am I close?
Thanks. I never would have guessed that.
Good puzzle.
to Keep me going thru this, i had to be listening to Skinny Puppy, Funker Vogt, Project Pitchfork, Das Ich, whatever else. Sure works for me.
Top notch.
15 D threw me for a loss. Other than that, I was SO close!
