Snow day today, and unlike the previous snow days, I came “mentally prepared” for this one. I’m not happy per se in the sense that well, there went my work day. But, at least the garment ripping and cursing at the skies bits didn’t happen. It looks like I’m going through the stages of grief faster. And at least there’s like, you know, actual accumulation of snow on the ground. Nothing gets my goat more than school cancellations when not a flake has fallen from the sky and you can see the pavement. Baffling. Still, I kind of think this stuff is amateur hour anyway. We could put Tabitha on a sled and shoot her down the hill and she’d rocket straight into her school hall in one shot. Beat that! Besides, don’t we want to harden our kids up? How else are they going to tell their kids how they walked uphill both ways to school during a Nor’easter without, you know, forcing them to do that? Everybody’s getting soft.
Anyway, enjoy the puzzle today. New one on Monday.
Somehow, I grokked the schtick with the very first instance of it occurring, so it was easy, but I still quite enjoyed it. Very well done.
When you’ve been solving crosswords for 4 decades, you’ve seen a lot. So someone asked me what words and phrases have i NOT seen in any crossword. Have to answer this with a non-sequitur, folks. Oh, all the obscene and offensive stuff.
How are you supposed to know to use the hyphen to type multiple letters in a space? I just had to do trial and error.
