FOUL PLAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

I vaguely sort of remember this movie, and my memory is that it was pretty entertaining. Then again, I was probably in like second grade or something when I saw it. So, that makes that assessment a little unreliable, methinks. Partly because I’m pretty sure my taste in comedy has changed a lot. The other reason, and this one is crucial, ever since I’ve become a dad my long-term memory has basically gone right down the toilet. Put it this way, I barely remember Tuesday. Makes for an interesting life, I’ll say. Especially when it comes to trying to recall if I’d made a certain theme before. This could be early onset Alzheimer’s. Watch this space to see how it all plays out. Anyway, asking me to remember what I thought about a movie I last saw thirty years ago is pushing it.
Tried to make a straight-up Easy puzzle this week, but alas, I think it just tipped into the Medium category. 1,001 apologies. Let’s call it an Easium and be done with it.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.

Re 51A: It the House, not the Senate that can vote to impeach.
But the Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. So BEQ is correct and the clue is fine.
Funny coincidence – I just watched “Foul Play” a week or two ago! I liked it, but didn’t love it – Chase isn’t very developed as an actor at that point to carry a whole film, and I think he was the weak spot overall. I mainly watched it to complete the Colin Higgins filmography – he also directed “9 to 5” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” both of which I *loved* and both of which I think hold up pretty well. Sad that Higgins didn’t direct more – he was an early AIDS casualty. “Foul Play” plays a bit like a directorial debut, and definitely his last two films are better fits for his talents. Here at least you get a kooky Dudley Moore performance, so depending on that, you might be pleasantly entertained. Goldie Hawn stellar as always.
Nice puzzle!
