THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Contest results are in. And this contest was child’s play. Literally. I showed you some pictures Tabitha drew in our latest game of Pictionary and all you had to do was tell me what they were. And as so often is the case with not only Pictionary, but also with seven year-old’s views of the world, some of these were mighty opaque. Yep, there were a lot of head-scratchers in this batch, nobody got more than half correct. Without any further ado, let’s see the answers:
#1 Palm tree
#2 Garden
#3 Unicycle
#4 Pancakes
#5 Cucumber
#6 Picture
#7 Clap
#8 Flying fish
#9 Long
#10 Band-Aid
Cucumber and Band-Aid … I mean … I guess I get them? Rather abstract art those. And Long … well, yes, that is a long path but I think there were probably some easier ways to demonstrate that. And why is there a birthday cake? Hell, most of these were, what was the word I used? Opaque? Yeah. That’s it. But whatever. It’s Tabitha and she’s a genius, and I’m going to force feed her genius onto y’all. Now where was I? Right, the results. So, like I said earlier only one of you got five correct out of the ten, so Benjamin Roye is our first winner. And of the remaining batch of contestants who got four correct, the randomly chosen winners are John Sayles and Tim Tebbe. Congrats to those three who each get a copy of “Octopus Crosswords.” If you didn’t win, pick up your copy today.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Solid puzzle.
I agree: solid puzzle. Only one cluing quibble: 24D — “brand” or “flavor”?
I really like Flying Fish.
I swear #6 looked like “Legend of Zelda.” Cucumber, though? Wow. Love it.
