THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
70 Worder today. Those grids tend to have a shade more room to breathe and (hopefully) lead to a cleaner solving experience. Enjoy.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Across=lite is inoperative
6-Across killed me. I am old.
Way too many rappers, proper names (crossing?) and obscure terms for me. By far my worst ever performance on a BEQ.
*your…
But seriously, nice puzzle. Took me a while.
Butchered in the NE. Was 100% certain 21A was MIA, and why not spell 8D with two Is rather than two Cs?
Always too many rappers’ names, as if BEQ is desperate to prove he is not a honky. Dude, it doesn’t impress me at all. Just like all the latest internet jargon that peppers the puzzles. I think he actually enjoys making me feel stupid, not cool, not hip.
How about some puzzles for those of us who didn’t squander their college educations and don’t surf the Web all day?
All hail to Eugene Maleska.
I got hammered by 6A/8D/10D/21A.
I know longer think “gee, I must be getting old”.
It’s now officially “I am getting old”.
I finally finished error-free, but not about to brag about my time to anyone.
You got me B…
If you’re serious, you shouldn’t be coming here for puzzles.
Here, here Joyce!!
Boo!
Ha!
“How about some puzzles for those of us who didn’t squander their college educations”
And in one fell swoop, Joyce in Maine reveals how she views African American culture.
Gosh Joyce, why didn’t you complain about the Led Zeppelin clue?
#MeeToo
Yeah, NE corner was brutal!
Damn hard puzzle! But, Jeez, Brendan—22A—you’re when it should be your—c’mon! You are a scholar. WTF?
Hmm, not sure why folks think they’re old because they don’t know about an event that happened 22 years ago…
And those jeans are silly and ridiculously expensive. “Boyfriend jeans” indeed!!
I’m in my 60s and you sound dull and snooty to me. I know Maine is pretty damn homogenous but sheesh!!
So funny!
Ask your grandkids.
I do puzzles here because they are challenging. I suspect BEQ will replace Will Shortz one day and I am trying to get used to a different style.
I read an online interview with BEQ where he confessed to frittering away his 4 years at UNH. My snarky comment was directed at him hoping he’ll think, “Oh yeah, you pedantic b***h, take this!” and he’ll craft a couple of hard puzzles with fewer pop culture clues.
I mentioned the rap clues because Mitch did. No one threw Mitch under the bus. I don’t like any pop culture clues, including Led Zep, Beasty Boys, etc. I don’t want to go to Wiki or IMDB to get the 6-letter movie from 1940, or an obscure character’s nickname in an old B movie.
I don’t think that people without college degrees are stupid. And I don’t think knowing the answers to rap clues means you are less intelligent or less than. People leapt to erroneous conclusions about me.
But clearly, I offended people. I regret it and I apologize for it.
Dia equates doing a crossword that references African American culture to being sexually assaulted.
