THE CORP. IS IN SESSION: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Impromptu puzzle maker meet up last night, from left to right that’s Joon Pahk, Mike Nothnagel, yours truly, and Paolo Pasco. Good times? You bet. Best times, though, were not the talking shop and catching up. No, no they weren’t. No, that goes to breaking out the classic board game Taboo and playing with a bunch of a folks who have been writing crossword clues for a combined 59 years now. Okay, I just ball parked that number, but I feel it’s a pretty good guess, plus it’s a prime so psychologically you’re more likely to believe it. Anyway, I digress. It was a truly fascinating experience of watching us come up with Monday-level clues either steeped in obscurities (“Be the blank, title of Mitski’s album”), employing some freaky mind melds (“Bubble gum brand” / “Orbit” / “Yes!”), or word salad that used $10 words meaning the same things as the five words you couldn’t use (use your imagination). Good times had by all. Next time I do this I’ll tape a 60 second session. Although, next time we’ll probably play something else.
Anyway. Enjoy and share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
i will Never apologize for living my truth (my truth is that i really thought Mike was in the Crossword Twittet/Mitski overlap)
Clue error: 61A EKCO is the kitchenware brand. [Marc of fashion] is ECKO.
There’s no error–EKCO was the correct answer.
Crosses with NUKE and CIRCA
Brendan likely changed the clue based on Bob’s comment before you and I downloaded the puzzle. He’s responsive like that.
There isn’t now, but there certainly was. Brendan corrected the error in response to my email to him.
