THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Rainy days here in Brookline, which suits me just fine. Not in a “Woe is me” emo-fashion of enjoying the crap weather. Not even in a way that I can gently tease Liz about how this weather compares to England (“this would be a beach day at home, right?”). No, the big takeaway is that in our neighborhood there are two opportunities for the kids to go trick or treating: Halloween proper as well as the Sunday before (on one and only one specific street). So yesterday’s downpour meant yesterday’s trick or treating was cancelled. Didn’t seem to bother Tabitha too much (for all those who are asking, she’s going as a witch). And it certainly didn’t bother dad too much either. Lord knows we’ll get enough candy this Thursday, and Lord knows I’m going be rummaging through Tab’s loot to eat all the unclaimed Peanut Butter Cups. Nobody needs that much candy, though Tabitha might attempt an argument that in fact, she does.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
When I first came across 20A (last week), I immediately thought of BEQ and his peers racing to get it in a grid. Too juicy a word to squander.
i Reversed the vvord SUDOKU and got UKODUS. VVe have to have a brand nevv puzzle named that. Plus me one of the very fevv solvers vvho managed to catch one of the suds in a Dell Crossvvord Magazine published in 1979. It sits there in a corner on a verso, 1/5 of the vvay into the mag, untitled and unassuming. i Just solve the thing (*** difficulty, looks like) and move along trying to solving vvhatever else i can. Happy 40th
The best picture for 1973 is The Godfather…
Year released versus year Oscar awarded are often different based on release dates.
Google gets it wrong every time. It’s always a year off and lists the film from the previous year since the award is given a few months after the year ends. The only films eligible as best films of 1973 are films released that year: The Sting, American Graffiti, Cries and Whispers, The Exorcist, and A Touch of Class. The award for the Best Picture of 1973 was presented in April of 1974.
The Godfather was the Best Picture of 1972. It was presented in March of 1973.
I hope this is clear.
