So yeah, obviously the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, also known as “that weekend Dan Feyer wins a couple two three months of mortgage payments,” was canceled along with, let me think … oh yeah, every other meeting on the planet. Good times. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a crossword tournament this weekend. It seems like all the rage nowadays is to keep on doing the very same things you would be doing, only now it’s over some Skype/Zoom/what-have-you kind of thing. Liz’s yoga? Now on Zoom. Tabitha’s art classes? Ditto. Why Brookline’s teachers can’t get it together and teach over those formats is a mystery and a post for a whole other day. Anyway. All of this rambling is a preamble announcement for the Crossword Tournament From Your Couch.
Here’s the deal, since we’re all doing nothing but hanging out in our houses, at 1:00 this Saturday the livestreaming begins. Four puzzles everybody solves. One puzzle for the title belt. All of this is being hosted by the charming Brian Cimmet and Ryan Hecht, hosts of the Fill Me In podcast. Big names in puzzlemakin’ are participating too: Blindauer, Fagliano, Weintraub, and Walden, just to name a few (and present them in a law firm-esque fashion). Look, this is gonna be free, and if it’s anything like Lollapuzzoola (which Cimmet and Blindauer have been doing forever now), it’s going to be light and entertaining as well as erudite. Sign up for this, will ya? All right. All right.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
1pm CST EST MST? Thanks
I went to print my puzzle today and had a flash of “oh, maybe he’s closed like everything else.” Obviously you are here and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your puzzles are such a light in my life always, but especially now.
Thanks, I needed that.
Mortgage? Like I own a house in San Francisco? Hahahaha
Ditto Rachel, except I never doubted you’d be open.
