Little bit of Blondie for you to go along with a fun little puzzle. I think it’s quite possible I might come back to this gimmick again, as it feels more fertile than I had originally considered. Regardless, enjoy. And for those music geeks in the audience who haven’t been reading Tom Breihan’s tour de force column “The Number Ones,” over at Stereogum, get on that today. Tom reviewing of every number one single in the US since 1958. He’s been doing that sequentially, and in a wild bit of unintended coincidence, his latest column (from yesterday) is about today’s answer at 38-Down. So I guess that’s a bit spoilery. You’ve been warned.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Thank you for introducing me to 38D. I was on an internship in Europe in the summer of 1989 and completely missed both the film and the song.
This one was “easy” for me rather than “medium”. Loving 48A! 🙂
Thank you, Brendan — you’re spoiling me! 🙂
