The top left corner was a bear! But I did learn something new by finally figuring out the answer to 1D. After getting a few of the letters from the across answers, I became convinced that you were referring to Donna Summer so it took me longer than it should have to finish that section.
Oh, I love this puzzle! I’m especially happy to have gotten 33 Down off the clue. Quite the family who sailed the ocean blue in fourteen hundred ninety two. Thank you, Brendan!
Starting off with a very easy clue but don’t let that fool the solver one bit. This was extremely difficult even for a BEQ effort. Grid design looked splendid here with 4 islands of black squares. Best clue in terms of innovative thinking: 42D.
More of a medium for me. But still a very fun solve!
