Now adding GENERIC and EXOTIC as terms in my cruciverbal argot. Also I’ve been trying to get some people in my life to read the clues and answers to some crosswords of the New York Times vein, BEQ versions, Stanley’s Saturday Stumpers, etc. in order to get an idea of what solving is all about here. Believe me, it’s like Roddy Piper in THEY LIVE! trying to get his itinerant construction worker buddy to try on the bizarre Spectacles he’s found out the truth about.
Oh, Brendan — what a sweet and funny puzzle! Thank you, and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for mentioning Stanley’s Saturday Stumpers. I hadn’t heard of him before, but I just finished one and it’s great.
Not the Stumper anymore; the difficulty was lessened. A shame.
Actually he ramped back up on them about the last 3 months or so. This last Sunday’s (Matthew Sewell) was a classic.
