BONES DAYS: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Ya never know where inspiration strikes, but one always reliable source is my man Ben Zimmer. It helps to have a friend who is as into words as you. Anyway, Zim was on WNYC last week talking about, you guessed it, words. And one phrase jumped out, providing the inspiration for this here puzzle. Hope you enjoy it. And it you don’t, then it’s all Ben’s fault.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Any connection between the specific bones in the answer and the specific day of the week? I don’t see one…
What Jack said. I don’t see a connection either, but I watched a couple of videos about the “bones day” phenomenon and was greatly amused. (It’s kind of a heart-warming thing, actually … 🙂.)
Don’t get it either. If constructors get “bonerland” clues, I guess they get themes too.
As for the puzzle, Hard+ difficulty.
Had fun solving this and there’s some great stuff in here. But count me in on Team Doesn’t Get The Theme…
Me three! (Er, five!) Fun solve, but I don’t get it. I even skimmed the transcript of the show you linked to. Ack! Thanks for the stumper.
As I said at DoaCF, I’m really hoping that this is needed in a Mystery Hunt puzzle, because otherwise it’s just too random.
Yes! What’s with those bones??
Fridayulna and Saturdaytibia are my favorite tiktokers.
I guess it’s this??? https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/lifestyle/what-does-no-bones-really-mean-why-dogs-act-floppy/
Really pushing the latest-fad envelope, BEQ! Especially with a YouTube-based Natick in the NE. I love that stuff up to a point but I guess I’m a little far removed from the TikTok generation.
