Last Thanksgiving, you may recall your man BEQ had the Times of London Quick Cryptic puzzle. Go for it if you somehow missed it, or wish to relive the experience. Well, this past weekend, an article came to my attention: “ChatGPT vs a cryptic crossword.” And what do you know? The buzzy AI attempted your man BEQ’s puzzle. Spoiler alert: the computer had problems with it. But still, a fun read as well as a built-in excuse to bring that puzzle up again.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Joon Pahk) and Marching Bands year eight has begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Hard but fair. Loved seeing 11 Down. Thanks, Brendan!
My adult stepson is a cellist. He said he has NEVER heard an end pin called a tail pin.
Sunak/sumac, nice!
Excellent hard puzzle … great solve.
33A is ?? crossing 33D. TSP and TBSP but TBS? Could easily by LBS / LUNG OIL

LOL I was just thinking about using the pun in 36-Across for one of my own grids and here you are beating me to it. Damn you, Quigley (shakes fist)
Interesting article. I just disagree with the last statement: there are a *lot* of things that ChatGPT is no good at!
