I solved in AcrossLite, so it didn’t matter to me.
Also, the box with the large type clue (that is, the currently-selected clue) seems to block the top row of the grid.
this is puzzle 1832 but the PDF is numbered 849. the previous Monday puzzle 1831 was numbered 848.
mystery?
Brendan apparently uses 2 numbering schemes: one for every puzzle, Monday and Thursday, assigned sequentially. The smaller number tells you how a themeless puzzle fits into the total number of themeless puzzles he’s created for his site. So it’s less than half of the larger number, since he’s given us many marching bands puzzles and other experimental puzzles over the years besides the themed and themeless.
