ONE STEP FORWARD: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
When I was trying to think of what picture to run alongside a puzzle called “One Step Forward,” there was one thing that simply Would. Not. Leave. My. Brain. And that is the utterly dreadful Paula Abdul song “Opposites Attract.” Although now that I’m rereading the lyrics, Paula and that animated rapping cat sing “two steps forward,” not “one step forward,” as I’d misremembered. God. Animated rapping cat. MC Skat Kat, actually. #smdh. Okay, well, now that I’ve not only butchered the title connection, but also infected you with an utterly abysmal earworm, just push play on the Coltrane clip. Something infitely better. But you knew that already.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
A very fine puzzle but I have to point out that 15-across was born in New York City, was raised in Washington State and returned to NYC where she made her name in the cabarets. Not at all a Brit!
I stand corrected after reading Wikipedia. This individual was born in London! Though It’s a bit misleading when one’s raised in the US and is known as a New Yorker. Even the Wiki entry uses “British-born American” as the descriptor.
