I NEED A DRINK: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Sort of a throwback puzzle today in the sense that this grid pattern was much more of a stand-by when I first started making puzzles nearly 20 years ago (yikes, I’m getting old, and now I really need a drink). Anyway, for those that care, grids with diagonal/staircase black square patterns are demonstratively easier to get clean fill than ones with flat lines of black squares. Stacking is always harder, but once you start staggering the words, you have a ton more flexibility. Anyway, enough of the inside baseball nonsense.
Speaking of drinking, you see those dapper dudes up above this write up? That’s me and my homie Francis Heaney and I’m happy to announce that the two of us are writing a book called (wait for it) “Drunk Crosswords.” Really, it should be called “Alcohol Puzzles,” as it’s not all boozin’ themes. But for sure, there will be some boozin’ themes. Whatever. It’s gonna be a trip: for us to write and for you to solve. Expect it in 2016, so get yr. coin jar ready and start putting pennies aside for a copy.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
“Ready to pound someone?” I love the little surprises (not that size matters) you include in your puzzles.
