THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
66 worder today. To my eyes, themeless puzzles grids with three words across the top, no matter how wide-open the rest of the grid is (like today’s), always look like themed puzzles. I’m not sure why that is. But, they do. Still, I made this one from the middle out. First with the three long ones in the center, then the long answers that intersect them going down, and finally the long answers that intersect those down words going across. Not the most common way I go about making themeless puzzles, but variety is the spice of life, right? Still, rather proud of the clue for 33-Across, if I’m giving myself a pat on the back. Hope you enjoy it.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a freelance puzzlemaker, here’s a fun little essay by Fred Piscop. Sure, it’s over twenty years old, but some things never change.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks.
I must have been on the right wavelength today, because this all fell into place for me very quickly – 7:34. Fun puzzle.
41A! Had to play with 34D a bit.
