THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
PROGRAM: [Java]
In today’s puzzle, I decided to design the grid ahead of time before filling it in. Typically, I design the grid for all of my puzzles while I’m making them. That way, if I find a stellar entry fits, I do my damnedest to shuffle the remaining corners around to make it happen. Not so much with this pinwheel-ish grid. Once the pattern was in place, I just threw down a seed answer in each and went to town. Favorite clue in the batch? That would be the stellar bit of trivia at 55-Across.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Wow, five minutes in and I didn’t think I would finish. But this puzzle allowed the solver to get on a roll and work through some fair tough fill. Ultimately 15 minutes which is about average for me on a BEQ Monday.
Thanks.
Do they sell LEMONJELLO at MONTICELLO? ‘Cause they should.
Loved the puzzle. Two notes:
I love seeing which answers are symmetrical with each other. My favorite pair in this puzzle are 17A and 55A.
Also: I learned 48A from Mike Shenk’s puzzle at the ACPT. I got it wrong there, and was happy to be able to fill it in correctly here.
What the fuck is a JART?
Brendan, we have to rally behind BEQ now. His daughter is just the right age to be picking up new words…and using them In Front of Everybody. Help him clean up his act!
I myself stopped using foul language for about 12 years after my own daughter lisped, “Oh, thit.” (When she turned 13, though, I needed the words back. Now she’s 32 and just a lovely person after all.)
On the other hand, some of the more anatomically correct answers that BEQ has used over the years have had me ROFLMAO.
My favourite is still: “Ready to pound someone?” … ERECT
