Recently, the above tour de force, totally NSFW, stage banter to end all other stage banter was brought to my attention. It is so amazing, it deserves to be studied. Repeatedly. Lord knows I have. Hell, the Beastie Boys even sampled this baby. Great times. Anyway, it felt high time to do an homage to rock stage banter.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
To all my peeps in Boston, keep on fighting.
When I saw the title of this theme, I said to myself, “You are toast.” But then it turns out that the new patois is the old line!!
1A and 3D cross — no good. Ditto re 46A and 42D. I mean, really? Minor annoyances, but annoying.
3D has been prolific enough that the name rang a bell for me, but I must agree with 46A/42D. I’ve never heard of either. Can someone please enlighten me in regard to those? Thanks!
46A is an Oscar-winning Woody Allen film starring Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johansson, and Penelope Cruz. 42D stands for Extra Virgin Olive Oil — I associate the initialism most closely with Rachael Ray, but certainly it pre-dates her.
Not knowing 3D and HADJ being far more common (in my experience) than HAJJ for a word that has multiple spellings in English, I was totally grrrrrr on that cross. I try to at least pay attention to movie titles and people who act, but 46A was still a complete mystery. I was only half grrr on that one, since EVOO was arguably something I should have been able to infer.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I still don’t think I would have been able to figure either one out, short of guessing.
