One of the more recent projects that was completed at BEQ.com HQ involved making some puzzles for Francis Heaney’s “Crasswords” anthology. (First edition is still available here.) Are they crude? Yeah. Are they funny? No doubt. Were they fun to make? You better believe it. Put it this way: if I found myself doing a double take just to make sure that I either (a) did indeed put [insert marquee answer you’ll never see in a respectable outlet] in the grid or (b) did indeed pull off that eye-popping double entendre as a clue … you know it’s a refreshing project to be involved in.
Anyway, this theme came to me after Francis no longer needed puzzles … so, there you have it.

Ever do the Private Eye (cryptic) crossword? I haven’t done one in a while, but they’re always risqué (and kind of tough as I recall). Looks like they have them up in Across Lite format now. Probably should add that to my regular diet.
Did the current (well, recent) one up there. Not too bad.
I very much enjoyed contributing two variety cryptics to the first Crasswords. This time, I hope no one will hide behind a pseudonym to avoid potential embarrassment. Who’d believe a name like “Brendan Emmett Quigley” anyhow?

BEQ, I’m a loyal and enthusiaastic fan of your puzzles (I almost had you create a custom-made puzzle for me as a gift to a friend)but today you sunk to a new piggy low. Your adolescent humor doesn’t amuse this grown up.

That was fun. Thanks. 🙂 When you’re doing 4 crosswords a day, with so many of the same words and clues, this was a terrific diversion.

Another take: You wouldn’t pay to get into a strip… er… “gentlemen’s” club to complain about the gratuitous nudity, correct?
To each their own. If the link warns you that this is going to be crude (“marquee answer you’ll never see in a respectable outlet”, et al.), and this does not sound like your cup of latte, don’t go. If you go anyway, caveat solvor, or something. 🙂
I don’t get 42A. EASPORTS is what’s left after the masectomy. Is that something?

EA = Electronic Arts, though that’s now shortened to the initialism you see here.
