Martin Luther King weekend in the Cambridge can mean only one thing: staying up all night sleep-deprived, surrounded by loved ones, tackling a never-ending avalanche of puzzles, each one harder than the previous one. Some are physically demanding, others are in foreign languages you don’t understand or speak. To complicate manners, there are no instructions given as a guideline. And with almost all of these riddles, once you’ve solved ’em, it just opens up a whole new set of problems to solve.
Oh, you thought I was talking about the M.I.T. Mystery Hunt? I was actually talking about life with Tabitha.
Alas, no Hunt for me this year. But I have been perusing the hunt’s site in between Tabitha-related tasks. As usual, there are way too many puzzles for one person to take in, so if you did compete and know of any must-solves, post the links in the comments section below. To start things off, solver Foggy Brume of Phoenix brought this gem to my attention, and I gotta say, my mind was blown.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Love “adorkable.” Did you come up with this yourself or have you heard it somewhere? It applies to one of my son-in-laws.
Potter Stewart has a problem with 31A, but, of course, he didn’t see mahy R-rated movies…
YEASAYER is in the grid and it’s *not* clued as the band? Color me surprised.
Dope grid! Didn’t know KARDASH, but I’m going to make a concerted effort to drop it in convo as early as tomorrow. Always a sucker for fully named crossword stars in grids (looking at you, URI). One of your best, IMO.
@Will: ditto
One of your best recent puzzles: wall-to-wall fun answers and clues! I don’t care if I sound like a “bootlicker”!
The “Quintessential Quigley”? Man, that was fun. Hard, but SO much great stuff!
yup, both the xzibit mystery hunt puzzle and the BEQ themeless were A++. also, i didn’t get to work this one during the hunt, but this blindito special has to be see to be believed.
