Ah yes. The stacks. Sometimes, I just stumble upon the perfect, most-obvious 15 letter entry that is just screaming to be put in a stack. In this instance, they would be 1-Across for the top and 62-Across for the bottom. Is it at all possible to do these grids without an entry that includes the word ONE? Just asking.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Yes, those were the marquee 15s. LAP steel? NEVER HEARD OF HIM.

Ouch. HAAAARD. Final mistake was SALES for GAMES. Loved and love ISRAELICOUSCOUS.
After the NYTSATXWP which proved to be a debacle for many, we arrive at this latest BEQ offering. Only got in 2 or 3 sh. wds. which shows no indication of completing the XWP without any refs. or assisters. But I did manage to make it through, altho it was slow going. 63A. First SQPDL ans. After that I have to painfully work my way up. 59A Like this author but I wasn’t fam. with this work. Lots of writers from Indiana, I’m assuming. 31A This does not work. There was a feeding frenzy over this which makes one consider the possible ban on bananas if this were true. This makes everything else suspect in that infamous book. 13D Can’t be in 34D. 15D RDS, STS, then MTS. STS shows up elsewhere as SAINTS. Why did I think the first 2 are on a geog. exam? 35D Insp. cluing as usual. 34D entered OHARE. I never get this person’s name straight. 5D RRS to the suburbs? What a concept! 18A I was wondering what this meant. Now I know it’s a musical subgenre yr. talking about. 57A Don’t know what this means. IC: this was one formidable XWP but I think I 49D.
James,
57-Across = Runs Hits Errors, the letters at the right end of a line score.

This is the third time in a week I’ve seen someone ask what RHE means, so let the word go forth from this time and place. 😀
Sorry man, this was waaay too tough but there’s some cool big answers in here. Got a big blank chasm at the top that I can’t crack with a ton of Acme dynamite.
But I admire that you go for the good stuff at the risk of a tough or tricky puzzle. Better than playing it safe.
Must be all that tryptophan in my system, but I found this easier than most hard ones. That said, I don’t get “ART” as a country modifier?
that would be ALT
This also seemed a tad easier for me than your typcial Mon. Interesting to see an alternative clue for ENOLA. I needed all the crosses to get it. Great 15s!
But I looked up the “other” Holmes and it said Enora!
(As a non-web-based solver, I also haven’t figured out how to see the solution here 🙂
