You’d think that because (a) my last name is Quigley, (b) today’s holiday is built around drinking (c) I like drinking that I’d like St. Patrick’s Day, right? Honestly, the whole thing seems like a farce. Any holiday where people pretend to be Irish (yeah, I’m looking at you Joon O’Pahk and Mike McNothnagel) and use that as an excuse to get faced seems like Amateur Hour to me. Look at the above picture. Do you really want to drink with any of them? I didn’t think so.
Oh, and another thing. I’m not really Irish. My last name is supposed to be Doropoulos. But that’s another story to be shared at some other time.
Today’s really is an Easy. I want to see some 2:00 times up there, Dan, Ennie, Al et al. And here’s a good one to share with your non-crosswording friends to get them on board. So, share the puzzle. See you on Friday.
Super easy except I don’t know what JAMESON’S is. Or “Fuse.” So that section took about a quarter of my time.
Congrats on #200! (Or condolences, I suppose… No, congrats. I’m sticking with congrats).
funny, i’m not actually korean. my last name is really supposed to be mac cumhail, but you can call me mccool.
Great puzzle…but it made me really thristy!!
@Rex, that’s borderline blasphemy… go out and have a shot o’ Jameson’s right now!
Fun puzzle. My favorite part was the IRA and ARI symmetry in the NE and SW corners. That gave it the extra BEQ touch. I can remember (barely) an afternoon/evening when I wish that I hadn’t known what Jameson’s was. Happy St. Pat’s Day!
Your last name may be Doropoulos, but there’s still Brendan Emmett–that’s Irish enough for me. Haven’t done the puzzle yet–waiting ’til tonight with a glass of Bushmills and watching “Darby O’Gill and the Little People” on my VCR.
Loved 1-Across. And along with the IRA/ARI symmetry, also the SHOE/SHOO crossing.
Also, were you thinking of that Arrested Development scene when you wrote 16-Across?
Irish or not, have a green beer for me, will ya?
Thanks for the puzzly goodness.
what’s up with the cruciverb site???
