PRINTOUT PUZZLE: [ FORECAST FOR MIAMI]

Do you doubt me? When have I ever led you astray, hmm? Exactly. So all you betting folk out there, you can trust me on this here prediction. You might ask yourself, how does he know? A magician never reveals his secrets … however, I must give credit where credit is due. In-the-know solvers will carefully find hidden symmetrically in the answer grid the name of the loyal reader who gave me this can’t-lose tip. Thank you, Solver X. (Yes, he’s related to Malcolm X.)
Share the puzzle. Enjoy the game on Sunday. New puzzle on Monday.
Congratulations on the world’s safest Big Game prediction. 🙂
Sneaky… but safe.
Ever the cruciverbal antiquarian, BEQ harks back to the 90’s!
BEQ.com where the ’90s live forever!
Oh, Peter Abide! Well played, Peter and especially Brendan. The theme read a little stilted, but I have to agree with the prognostication deemed correct in Across Lite.
Very nicely done.
I was a little groggy when I solved the puzzle this morning and totally missed the alternate entries. Wow, bump my rating up to 5 stars!
Wow, very nice!! Couldn’t get PISTILS to sound right in my head….so I had NFL SAONTS for a while, then switched to COLTS and was very satisfied with myself… until I revealed the real answer!!
Besides this one and the NYT Election day puzzle, does anyone know of another puzzle that predicts the future?
What about a puzzle that predicts a three way outcome? E.G. “Health care bill action” : pass, kill, veto. Merl Reagle’s last Sunday puzzle had a three way answer but it wasn’t predicting a real future event.
I missed the alternates, just settled for SAINTS, but wondered what I was missing. Seeing the answers, I think it’s brilliant.
the NYS election day puzzle from 2008 (kevin wald) also predicted a winner. there was an IN rebus, which allowed OBAMA and MCCA[IN] to both fit into five squares.
Yeah, baby, now *this* is a fun puzzle. Ate my clock, but not my lunch. Very few WTF moments (e.g. SKYPE and TAE-), and have just been puzzling long enough to recognize Peter Abide’s name.
Nice pairing of “what I MEANT was…” and “ALL I was saying was…” I gotta spend less time listening to AC/DC—almost keyed BIG for 45A. And props for the “prop” pun on the Dr. House clue.
Very clever, even if Across Lite only accepts one solution.
Sweet.
Nice job, I knew it had to be the COLTS so didn’t even realize that there was an alternate solution in there. This one took me a while, really slow on the up-take, really solid!
Awesomeness!
Geaux Saints!
Sorry to be dense, but is Peter Abide a real person? (I did get the alternate predictions so I’m not completely clueless.)
Yeah, he is. In fact, he’s the gentleman who commented just above yours.
Impressive! I didn’t see the alternate solution until I read the comments (I had SAINTS). Very nice!
“The dude’s Abide.”
I’m late to the party, but I want to add my 2 cents. SUPER excellent! Even my wife, who doesn’t do crosswords, was impressed.
These comments here are very helpful in critical head banging situations.
