THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Last week I got a message from my pal Quiara Vazquez wherein she double dog dared me to use a certain answer into a puzzle. I took the bait and here we are with said puzzle. That’s what friends are for right? I hope you enjoy it, unless you hate something. Then it’s all Q’s fault.
ANNOUNCEMENT! I have heard that supply chains are a bit, shall we say, unreliable at the moment.
I bring this up because while certain stores cannot guarantee the latest and greatest piece of plastic for the holidaze, the Biz Quig can guarantee making that special someone a custom crossword. It’s the gift of a lifetime, unless you buy two. So if you’re at least somewhat interested, please drop me a line.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Fun theme, but several of the grid squares seemed, to me, to be “Naticks”. Or at least Natick-adjacent (Wellesley, perhaps, or Framingham).
zzzzzz π
Thanks, Brendan!
I don’t like the verb tense in 43D. Also, way too many near-natick crosses. Oh, well. They can’t all be gems.
One person’s annoying natick is another person’s joy at learning two new things.

Is Q responsible for the flashy across answer or the flashy down answer??
Re: 49A β¦ I donβt see any evidence anywhere that your answer was ever associated with Buffalo Bill and his Wild West Show.
Annie Oakley (who I always used to confuse with your answer) was though.
And your answer was indeed tied to Wild Bill Hickok ( who I always used to confuse with Buffalo Bill).
(Weβve been to the Buffalo Bill museum & gravesite outside Denver so learned more about it there than is obviously good for me)

FWIW: It’s listed in the 3rd sentence of her Wikipedia entry … not that Wikipedia is always a solid reference.
