DEAR MCSWEENEY’S: [ PDF]
PROGRAM: [Adobe Reader]
All right, who among you had “write something for McSweeney’s on BEQ’s bucket list” on your bingo cards? Nobody? Can’t say I’m surprised. But here we are. A while back they had reached out to me and asked them to write a letter to the editor for their quarterly. They’re not typical letters to the editor, mostly just mini essays. Well, lookee here, yours truly’s essay was selected to be included in their letters to the editor anthology. I’m honored. And so to help them promote the launch of said book, I wrote yet another letter to the editor, this time in the form of a crossword. PDF only because of legal reasons, but click here and get to it. It’s a contest, mind you, and who knows. You just might win yourself a copy of that book.
While I’m promoting puzzles of mine, the latest AV puzzle dropped yesterday, and for a limited time they’re offering a completely free membership. Click here to get on board.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Enjoyed the cluing but needed a magnifying glass to read the numbers in the grid!
No longer providing via Across Lite? š
Fun puzzle, Not even going to bother scanning and submitting since I definitely am not in the top 10 to finish. (I didn’t go upstairs and pull this off my printer until 7 PM. I printed it at 10 AM.)
But isn’t the clue at 5D a “no no” with the answer at 15A?
I sure hope your future puzzles can be solved on line – ala with Across lite
Why no option to download to Crosswords or Across Lite?
Cām on man!
Am I the only person without a printer in this day and age?
Brendan hints at this in the post, but basically every outlet that commissions crosswords has an exclusivity clause in their contract – posting a .puz on his site would run afoul of the deal he inked with McSweeney’s, presumably.
Bit weird that long-time readers are assuming BEQ’s axing Across Lite for good – PTSD from .puzgate, I guess.
No, I wouldn’t say this puzzle was ‘easy’: it took me significantly longer than most of your ‘medium’s.
