So this puzzle comes not from Chez BEQ in Greater Boston, but rather from the Cape. The family needed a break, and this is doing the trick, thank you very much. All the summer trappings are going on as we speak. They’re all great, but nothing’s better than a barbecue in my opinion. We don’t have one at home, so I tend to go a little overboard and barbecue everything just to get back to my Neanderthal roots. Anyway, today’s puzzle is an extension of that. Enjoy.
For the musical nerds out there, and I know there’s a few of them, this house has tons, I mean actual tons of old jazz vinyl records and a turntable to enjoy them on. Some first run stuff too. Whoever’s collection this was was definitely open minded too, as well as an obsessive collector. Anyway, I bring this up because Tabitha has been fascinated by the record player. For her, music is just summoned out of thin air from a piece of plastic. She’s also been fascinated with John Coltrane, specifically “Blue Train.
Thanks to all who chipped in to the BEQ Summer drive. If you haven’t got your bonus puzzles yet, email me. And as previously mentioned, the randomly selected donor who will be receiving something of mine that I don’t want any more is Benjamin Roye.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
What a fun puzzle to start off the holiday weekend with! The themed answers were a joy
Totally agree with Glinda. Enjoy your time on the Cape, Brendan. I liked the story about all records and Tabitha’s fascination. Thanks, Brendan, and Happy Fourth!
Really enjoyed this puzzle. Need help for the clue ‘Cafe beverage’ answer ‘the’?
Cafe has the diacritical mark that indicates it’s the French word. Therefore, the (diacritical mark also) is French for tea.
