THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

They’re tearing up the road directly in front of Chez BEQ this morning. And just beyond that, like 0.03 of a mile, away, maybe even less, is a whole massive construction site. More stinking condos are being built. I thought everybody left the cities because of COVID? Anyway. It’s already 9:00 and the sound is almost deafening. Lovely. So, click the above video and suffer along with me, will ya?
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands YEAR SEVEN (ZOMG) have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
We know that sound! It’s like forks in the garbage disposal!
You needn’t look further than last Monday’s post to see that Instant Karma is alive and well.
i feel for ya, fella
i live in the fastest growing city in latin america
they are always building something and it is mostly cinder block construction
after excavating thru solid rock for parking under the building they have to hammer holes in the blocks to do the wiring, etc
endless noise
good times
Everybody wants to live in this area because of all the tree lined streets with charming old buildings. Then the brains in town meeting authorize tearing down anything at all, should I say it, pretty, and replace them with cinderblock and glass cubes. UGLY. MY street lost two perfectly healthy mature trees this week, and the tm has already said ok to tearing down a couple of Victorian houses I can see from my living room. Take yourself on a google tour of all the MCI facilities (i.e. jails). There is more red brick, landscaping, and classic architectural detail than many ivy league colleges. I’m so sick of the way this community looks that I am thinking that after COVID maybe I’ll commit some non violent but annoying crime. MCI Framingham looks better than my block. I’m thinking about sneaking a phone into the next BosWords and looking up answers. Don’t shoot, officers. I’ll go quietly.
Here in Dudley Square we started celebrating the first year of Covid by tearing up the whole area and “refurbishing” it. It’s still going on! And still, the potholes thrive…
Anyway, nice puzzle, Brendan. I think my favorite entry/clue is 55 Across — I can just see a guy doing/saying that. Thanks!
As a baby in the Bronx my first awakening was the smell of tar & the sound of constant jackhammering. I went back to NYC in 2013. My first reaction: they STILL haven’t finished this city? Guess Biden is taking this infrastructure seriously & babies growing up in 2023 will just have to deal with it.
