THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
I’d meant to link to this on Thursday, but here we are. Cracking the Cryptic, everyone’s favorite “let’s watch somebody solve cuckoo bananas hard sudoku puzzles” YouTube channel is back with a cryptic crossword edition. This video is doubly noteworthy. Firstly, because they first solve the likely Puzzle Of the Year by Will Nediger. Secondly, because the other puzzle is some next level shit. My brain hurts trying to comprehend how either puzzle was made. Anyway, do yourselves a favor and support Will, Joon Pahk (who ran Will’s puzzle), and Magpie if you really want some hard British puzzles and/or want to torture yourself.
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year six have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Jesus christ, this one was fun. Seeing 32-Across and 37-Across flush against one another made my jaw drop. Oh, and that Nediger puzzle is a masterpiece.
Only bad thing is that after these two brilliant puzzles, the rest of my week is bound to be a letdown by comparison…
That was a nice puzzle with the cool diagonal blacks and all the high-score scrabble letters strewn about. Very enjoyable, thanks.
I’m stuck on the upper left of the cryptic set by Mr Magoo — specifically, clues 1, 2, 3 [the 9-letter part of the enumeration, 4, and 18. I suspect I’ll get it eventually, but this is a bear.
The Nediger was functionally the same, but somehow played easier.
