THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
I always make lower word count puzzles with the intention of having to write fewer clues, conveniently forgetting how damn long it takes to make such wide open grids. I’ll never learn. Regardless, enjoy.
Oh, shout out to my man Joshua Kosman over at the San Francisco Chronicle. His paper just did a big blowout section about puzzles, and while I didn’t contribute to the section, I was name checked in an article about who’s who in puzzles today. Apparently, my puzzles are “free-form scruffy.” I think that’s a complement. Anyway, it’s an honor just being mentioned. And while I’m thinking of it, sign up for Joshua’s weekly cryptic puzzle over at Patreon will ya? Tell him I sent ya.
Lots of puzzle related links today as I am just reminded that John Lieb over at Boswords tells us we’re three months away from that tournament. No word yet as to whether or not it’s actually happening, but hope springs eternal. Regardless, they posted (count ’em) three bonus puzzles on their site yesterday. So, go over and add ’em to the To Do Pile. All right.
Lastly The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year six have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
That is a timely clue for 15D in Boswords #3
thanks for the puzzle. The NE corner had me scared for a while. 16d. gave me a toehold.
Hi, Brendan. “Free-form scruffy profusion” isn’t a “complement”, but it _is_ a well-deserved “compliment”. Thanks for your scruffiness and, you know, puzzles, too.
Several of the 8+ letter answers had me entering and later erasing before going back to the original entry. Good fun.
