ODDFELLOWS: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
This was one of those themes that I could have probably done forever, but for the purposes of today’s offering, I think a 15x gets the point across in a (hopefully) fun fashion. And while we’re talking inside baseball, I’d like to say man Ben Tausig calls these kinds of puzzles as “themed themelesses.” You’ll see what he means once you’ve solved it. Anyway, enjoy.
Need more puzzles? The Hub Crossword has already launched (get on board), and Marching Bands year six (!) begins next dang Monday. One week! So many crosswords so many hours to do them.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Stone measurement is CARAT. KARAT is “Gold purity measurement.”
Tonsil hockey=PDA?
Public Display of Affection
Can somebody explain the theme?
Never mind, I got it.
Lutes at Ren Fairs, not lyres.
I still don’t get it…
The shaded squares, which are in odd positions (1,3,5,7) are fellows’ first names. Hence the title.
I don’t know if 47A is a new clue but it’s very good IMHO. More proof of BEQ’s clever work.
Thanks. I was over thinking it and trying to figure out who Fred, Carl, etc., were…
Uber=very in German? News ti me. Uber=over or above
I thought the odd fellows meant the odd ones in pairs like fred/barney carl/lenny except i couldnt think of pete or nate that way so i just figure they are names of his odd friends.
