THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
After last week’s Marching Bands detour, we’re back with the regularly scheduled Themeless Mondays and the themed Thursdays. Frabjous joy, callooh callay. Enjoy.
Speaking of frabjous joy, Crooked Crosswords, the weekly Sunday-sized puzzles I make with Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon, have relaunched under a brand new name: The Hub Crossword. For those that don’t know, these are the weekly puzzles that run in the Boston Globe. We’ve set up a Patreon page to sign up, and the best news is that the first one drops this coming Sunday. Calooh callay indeed. I’ve thrown up a couple of previous puzzles for you to do, and once yer done with that, why don’tcha become a subscriber? More puzzles, because, well, why not.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
A better clue for “scarfs” would be “Hoovers” or “gobbles.” The plural of scarf is scarves.
Put down is “laid,” not lain. Unless I’m missing something …
Brendan, I know you love to be timely, but I am solving tough crosswords to briefly forget the pandemic, so seeing FLATTEN THE CURVE broke my enjoyment today. Best memory: Otis Day and the Knights.
It’s a bit of a stretch, but among the listed synonyms for lain are “put down” and “be placed”.
Both scarfs and scarves are acceptable plurals for scarf when scarf refers to a garment. You are correct about scarfs being the correct plural when it refers to either stealing or eating.
Unrepentant English major here. Sorry!
So you want to “forget the pandemic” by taking “flatten the curve” as intrusive?! Your privilege must be absolutely exhausting to you1
Seriously now, the cloistered privilege of your post on rereading has got to be an embarrassment to you.
Glinda, my only child is an RN in a busy ER.
Every reference to the pandemic sends fear through my heart. And not just for my son. Hope you and yours are well.
We are. Sending any good karma I have your son’s way.
Ever work the word “PNAMBIC” into a puzzle?
