TIPPING ONE’S HAND: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
If you ever want to make a quick buck, convince me to play poker with you. It might require a keg of beer, tranquilizer dart, or hypnotism, though. I hate gambling. Basically, because I am truly, truly terrible at it, and I hate losing money. I’m also a little animated and tip my hands all the time. This might be why I am truly terrible at it. What can I say, I’m a grumpy dude unless I get really excited about something. Then I can’t contain myself. So there you have it. I just gave you a get rich quick scheme. Now, that scheme will only really fly once I have spare hundred dollar bills to light my cigars with. Just keep it in mind: you may have to wait a bit longer to bleed me dry.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
BEQ,
Your puzzle 10077TippingOnesHand in ACROSS Lite format needs to be renamed.
Currently it is .ps instead of .puz
Yeah 55 across!
And thanks again for your choice of work!
Bruce
What a fun puz! How do you come up with these?
35-A needs a little editing work. Other than that, wonderful puzzle!
4-D and 46-D! Cricket and Rugby!
Cannot open this on an iPad. System thinks itβs a postscript file.
Cannot open on iPad. Disappointed.
i Could not ever be a POKER PLAYER or CHESS PLAYER. i Just don’t have the PATIENCE for all that. Today i go into the JANAF Libe and catch up on my crossvvords. i Pull out the Sunday Puzzle Magazine out of the Nevv York Times. i’M going to copy the PUNANAGRAM Puzzle and i’m going to use a RED Magic Marker to do it. i’Ve come to realize this could look like a case of vvriting “REDRUM” in Blood so i decide from novv on not the use red ink in this manner.
Looks like the .puz is fixed now.
In case anyone’s curious, what seems to have happened is:
.puz files begin with a two-byte checksum. In the case of this particular puzzle, the two bytes were 37 and 33, which correspond to the ASCII characters “%” and “!”, respectively.
However, PostScript files begin with “%!”. So it looks as though the web server looked at the beginning of the file, saw “%!”, and concluded that this must be a PostScript file.
I’ve never been able to fathom why a smattering of the Across Lites don’t have the timer function available. Today’s is an example.
There is no such place as North Dover, MA. (43A & 55A) Bradstreet died in North Andover.
North and Dover are connected on the diagonal by “and”. Similarly, “tooth” and “dnail” are connected as are “h” and “dynasty”. Puzzle title was “tipping one’s hand.
