THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Another Indie 500 is in the books, and another title for Mr. Roger Barkan. That’s two for Roger, who has officially won half of those tournaments. So, golf claps all around there. And another round of applause for the folks who put the tournament together, please and thank you. Those are some good people who run that tournament, which is blossoming into quite the event it looks like. Someday, eventually, I’ll make it down there to D.C. Anyway, when you’re done here, please go over there and pick yourself up some puzzles will ya? All right.
Oh yeah, I should mention that at said Indie 500, yours truly was awarded their Spirit Award. Excuse me, the FireballCrosswords.com Indie Spirit Award. Where would we be without corporate sponsorship? Anyway, the award acknowledged the blood sweat toil and tears of my decade plus of independent puzzlin’. I was flattered to be acknowledged, and so I made this thank you video posted above. Alas, tournament director Erik Agard told me they had AV problems and so while the video was seen, my mellifluous voice wasn’t heard by those in attendance. Get with the program, kiddos! You think these acceptance speeches write themselves? So here it is again.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Mazal tov! Well deserved.
Dude – SPOILER ALERT!
I know… it’s been six months. But some of us haven’t seen it yet. Though, TBH, given all the wailing and rending of garments and gnashing of teeth I’ve seen on the Interwebs since it came out, this is probably the least spoilery spoiler imaginable.
This upcoming VVednesday is virtually a Crossvvord Puzzle-Related HOLIDAY. That vvould be D-DAY of course. Ansvvers like DDAY, STLO, CAEN, OMAHA, UTAH,etc. fill in the slots quite frequently. Plus not to mention that curious story vvhere a cruciverbalist vvas accused of ESPIONAGE vvhen ansvvers like OVERLORD, UTAH, OMAHA, etc. appeared on the grid and seemed to point to a plan in the vvorks for an invasion of Normandy. So for this VVednesday, keep June 6, 1944 in mind. And do 3 or 4 times as many crossvvords.
