THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
I’ve always called grids like this one “pinwheels,” but maybe there’s a better term out there for them. Or one that is already in use and I just haven’t heard it yet. It’s entirely possible. But here we are. Manny Nosowsky used to make a lot of themelesses like this, and I’ve always liked the pattern of starting with all the flashy answers in the middle first and then stretching out to the corners. Good times; hope you enjoy it.
Thanks to everybody who has chipped into the Summer drive so far. If you’ve been enjoying the puzzles lately, consider a $10 tip via PayPal or Venmo (@TheBEQ), or email me. Remember: the site will forever be free, so don’t feel like you have to pay. But if you can, I’ll send you two additional 21x puzzles as a thanks. Much appreciated. And I keep forgetting, one randomly selected donor will get a copy of “Drunk Crosswords.” So what are you waiting for?
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Good puzzle, but there have to be close to 3.4 million variants of 29A.
I enjoyed this puzzle. Solid fill and clever cluing.
I discovered your website a few months ago and have been working backwards to the beginning. Now on puzzle #454. Great stuff.
I read the first few Across clues and wondered, how in Qthulhu’s name am I going to finish this puzzle? But it turned out to be one of the quicker solves, in large part because 1D is a gimme and I knew about the great world series event of 1956. Qthulhu is a demanding but ultimately fair crossword deity.
