Had the Patriots game on yesterday, and sometime toward the end of the first quarter Tabitha came into the room. We hardly ever watch TV, so she found the experience (little toddler in front of a massive flatscreen) a little disorienting. She nestled next to me, started eating some fruit, and proceeded to provide her own commentary about the game: “Big. Man. Ball. Shock.” (“Shock” is Tabitha’s word for “fall down” as in “you’ll get a shock when you fall down.”) This continued on for a couple plays, but like mother, like daughter. Tabitha got bored with football real quick. So she left and decided to go off and play with her toys. And also, like her mother, she kindly asked me to turn off the TV.
This morning, she walked around the living room and pointed to the TV which was turned off, and said, “Dada. Big. Man. Shock.” I don’t know if that was a request for more NFL highlights, or just a reminder of what we had done yesterday. Or perhaps she’s under the assumption that football’s the only form of entertainment from that massive black square in the living room. Consider there was a solid stretch of time where Tabitha thought the stereo was where Dad’s music came from. It wasn’t until very recently that Tabitha discovered she can listen to her music on it. All. The. Time. Because Dad’s a softy. And let me tell you, if I hear about monkeys jumping on the bed one more time, I’m going to take hostages. So, I’m guessing the point of this story is I’d better enjoy the NFL season while I can until Tabitha takes over the TV as well.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
