Two pieces for the “in case you missed it”/grab bag pile:
I had yesterday’s Sunday New York Times puzzle. Get it here:

My all-acoustic typewriter band, the Boston Typewriter Orchestra, was mentioned in Wired this past weekend. The irony that we use exactly zero wires is not lost on us. Peep the video here.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
Nice — but I don’t understand 20A. Anyone care to enlighten?
Check the “7” on your keyboard
Thanks! Sometimes it’s the phone pad, sometimes it’s the keyboard….
Hard enough, but not BEQ’s brain-bustiest. Mostly messed myself up by not knowing how to spell MASCARA and confidently putting in things like SINNER, POPUP, BACCI and TSHIRT without double checking crosses. :/
Great clues for BOOKMARK, TENET and NOTEPAD. Had to guess at the name tri-fecta of ASANTH/DJANGO/AJSOPRANO. I know Django only as Boba Fett’s father. Only one I didn’t like was “Dude” for KIDDO because it slowed me down. Dude, my kids are like the only people in the world that I don’t call dude!
felt somewhere between a medium and a hard. not that i’m complaining! i went for NUT UP at 1A at first thinking that was more quigley.
On my BEQ-o-meter it was a mard, I almost squeezed this one out without any Googles. Can you please check how often you have used the word STONIER or its permutations in your xwords? 🙂
Easy until the NE section. The crossing of AJ SOPRANO and DJANGO was pretty foul. 26D was new to me, although understandable after solving.
FROYO = awesome entry. DJANGO reinhardt is a guitarist? i thought he was a mountain climber. AJSOPRANO was … well, i never watched the show, but isn’t that crosswordese immortal robert ILER? i hear he’s a terrible actor.
totally hosed myself in the NW by dropping OPTED in at 15a as my first answer. the rest of the puzzle fell fairly quickly, though there was some great stuff. HEAR OUT, IT’S TOO LATE, BACK TO BACK, and FREE/AS A BIRD were nice. that’s a lot of good stuff for a 64.
I loved “Miss given?”.
Two of my passions are crosswords and bar trivia. Usually things I’ve learned in crosswords help me in the bars. (What was the original name for Tokyo? Well, duh!) But recently I saw a question “What instrument is jazz musician Django Reinhardt known for?” That gave me a foothold in the NE today. It also inspired me to change SOPRANOJR to AJSOPRANO.
I wasted some time trying to recall what AJ stood for before I realized it went in like that.
