THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

I’m typing this post at 10:00 Sunday night, and there’s a war going on. 99% of me wants desperately to go to bed. The other 1% is sort of unsure what havoc Sandy will do to Massachusetts. I’m pretty sure there whatever happens, there will be some sort of internet connection in the morning. But, in the remote chance that there isn’t, I thought I’d set the post up the night before. Because, dammit, the puzzle must go on. No matter what act of God, if it’s Monday or Thursday, there’ll be a puzzle. Earthquake? There will be a puzzle. Monsoon? Puzzle. Swarm of locusts? Puzzle. Raining frogs? Puzzle. Alien invasion? Well, … get back to me when that happens. But odds are there will still be a puzzle posted.
I’ve sort of been living in denial that there will be a major hurricane hitting the Eastern seaboard. Literally, total news blackout. I don’t want to hear any of it. And since it’s out of my sight, it’s out of my mind. Liz was in the same boat too, until we finally made the executive decision to, you know, get a couple of things from the grocery store. “Essentials.” Note the quotes, because what I ended up purchasing were things I hardly every buy: bottled water, paper towels, batteries, Chef Boyardee. You get the picture. Still, I love the picked-over shelves of a grocery store the day before a storm, especially in the bread and milk sections. How many loaves and/or gallons are people purchasing to prepare for Sandy? I can’t imagine they’ll get through all of those comestibles. But what do I know?
Anyway, call me skeptical about all this hurricane planning, because it seems like every time The Big One is supposed to hit us, it turns out to be nothing more than a mighty windy/rainy afternoon. Well, we’ll see. In the meantime, stay safe out there. Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
XWZT! As for Sandy, she BLOWZ!
…ARF!
Trader J’s on Mem Drive yesterday afternoon was jammed beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I kept wanting to say “But we ALWAYS put off our TJ’s trip of the week until Sunday!” They should have a special check-out line for non-panic shoppers at times like this.
Good news is, the Aquarium is open. Better news is, non-essential staff (yours truly) are enjoined to stay home. So I get to do my Monday BEQ with coffee in the comfort of my own bed.
I bought a jigsaw puzzle yesterday because I don’t know what I will do without power!! I am an addict!!!
I felt so proud to complete the NE corner.
it changes your perspective when you are responsible for a young child. in my neck of the woods – which doesn’t usually get much snow – any prediction (no matter how vague) – triggers the response to buy bread, milk, and eggs.
Killer Eno clue…
Waiting for a Sandy Report from the BEQ viewpoint.
