THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
PROGRAM: [Java]
When you’re done with today’s Themeless Monday, take a couple minutes to solve Crossword Jesus Mike Shenk’s latest puzzle for the WSJ. It’s a bit on the tricky side, but definitely doable. It’s worth a mention because Mike does more with common letters in that puzzle than most constructors try to do with the rare high-Scrabble point letters in their puzzles. It’s nothing short of jaw-dropping. Then again, that’s why he’s one of the Jesuses.
Also, if you have a couple bucks burning a hole in your pocket, please consider giving a few to my man Matt Jones. He’s doing a Kickstarter where for as little as $5 you can get yourself a pack of 25 themeless puzzles. I’ve known Matt for years, and have enjoyed his puzzles in his Jonesin’ syndicate as well as his contributions to the AVCX. Should be a fun project.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
I think horses rear up, not rare up 🙂
I thought the same thing, but a little research led me to:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rare?s=t
Note that the third definition refers to the second definition of the entry for “rear,” so, while a bit far-fetched, this *is* technically valid.
Strrreetching it 🙂
