Augmented oldie but goodie today. “Augmented?” you say. Augmented. You see I swapped one theme answer out for another, polished up the fill and wrote a couple new clues. So, augmented. Besides, it’s probably brand new for a majority of the solvers here. (It originally appeared in Spirit magazine). Enjoy.
Looking for new puzzles? Have you hit up the tip jar yet? A suggested $10 tip gets you two brand new Sunday-sized puzzles (a themed and a themeless). What’re you waiting for?
Oh, and this Saturday? Please raise a pint to commemorate the crossword’s centennial. Wherever you are. Please and thank you.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
UPDATE: Never make changes to a puzzle jet-lagged. One clue is fixed now.
28A repeats a word in the clue? I don’t even understand that one.
Nor do I. Pasin Peru or Pa’s in Peru? What the?
P as in Peru (like A as in Apple).
Something seems lost in translation, or augmentation, in this puzzle.
Thanks. I still don’t see the agreement between either p— or p—as and “steal” but at least now I see the main meaning.
How is “Yellow Stripe” nine?
The billiard ball with a yellow stripe is a number nine.
Rather than add another comment below, I didn’t much care for “P as in Peru” either.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. Still not my favorite fill in this puzzle, but I understand it a bit better now.
Sorry, while I get p as in peru, I still don’t get pelfasinperu
